I only wanted to change their way of thinking—I wanted them to respect me and obey all my commands from the heart! Then everything would be fine with them and with their descendants [33] forever.


This means that God’s holy people {\cf2\super [103]} must be patient. They must obey God’s commands and keep their faith in Jesus.


Grace (kindness), mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from his Son, Jesus Christ. We receive these blessings through truth and love.


But you must be careful! Be sure that as long as you live you never forget the things you have seen. You must teach those things to your children and grandchildren.


My soul, praise the Lord!\par And don’t forget that he is truly kind.\par


The Lord says,\par “If a person trusts me, I will save him.\par I will protect my followers\par who worship my name.\par


If a person trusts the Lord,\par that person will be truly happy.\par A person will be truly happy\par if he doesn’t turn to demons and false gods {\cf2\super [249]} for help.\par


“Be careful. Don’t forget the Lord your God! Be careful to obey the commands, laws, and rules that I give you today.


And you must remember the whole trip that the Lord your God has led you through these 40 years in the desert. The Lord was testing you. He wanted to make you humble. He wanted to know the things in your heart. He wanted to know if you would obey his commands.


You believe in God through Christ. God raised Christ from death. Then God gave glory to him. So your faith and your hope are in God.


and gave thanks for it. Then he divided the bread and said, “This is my body; it is for you. Eat this to remember me.”


But people who ask God for help\par are very happy.\par Those people depend on the Lord their God.\par


Remember the amazing things he does.\par Remember his miracles and wise decisions.\par


My soul, wait patiently for God \{to save me\}!\par God is my only hope.\par


“But be careful! Don’t forget the Lord. You were slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought you out of the land of Egypt.


Then you will say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his great power.


If we carefully obey the whole law, exactly like the Lord our God told us to, then God will say that we have done a very good thing.’ [40]


Why did God do this?\par So his people could obey his laws.\par So they could carefully obey his teachings.\par Praise the Lord!\par
