Lord, I come to you for protection.\par Save me from my enemies.\par


Save me from those people who\par do bad things.\par Save me from those murderers.\par


Before the Lord showed me that the people were against me, I was like a gentle lamb waiting to be butchered. I did not understand that they were against me. They were saying these things about me: “Let us destroy the tree and its fruit! Let us kill him! Then people will forget him.”


Bad people join together to hurt good people.\par Those bad people try to start fights.\par But you hide those good people\par and protect them.\par You protect them in your shelter.\par


The Lord will protect me\par when I am in danger.\par He will hide me in his tent. {\cf2\super [163]} \par He will take me up\par to his place of safety.\par


Lord, you know about their plans\par to kill me.\par Don’t forgive their crimes.\par Don’t erase their sins.\par Destroy my enemies!\par Punish those people while you are angry!\par


They hide together\par and watch my every move,\par hoping for some way to kill me.\par


“Lord, I have many, many enemies.\par Many people have turned against me.\par


They asked Festus to do something for them; the Jews wanted Festus to send Paul back to Jerusalem. They had a plan to kill Paul on the way.

Their kings and leaders joined together\par to fight against the Lord\par and against the king he chose.\par


The Lord asked Cain, “Why are you angry? Why does your face look sad?


Lord, listen to me!\par Listen to my arguments\par and decide who is right.\par


The other Jews agreed. They said, “These things are really true!”
