I wish death would take\par my enemies by surprise!\par I wish the earth would open up\par and swallow them alive! {\cf2\super [329]} \par Why? Because they plan\par such terrible things together.\par


Those people from other nations\par dug holes to trap other people.\par But they fell into their own traps.\par Those people hid nets to trap other people.\par But they were caught in those nets.\par


Yes, you must show mercy to other people. If you do not show mercy, then God will not show mercy to you when he judges you. But the person who shows mercy can stand without fear when he is judged.


\{Yes, I feel sorry for the Jewish people.\} I don’t mean that God failed to keep his promise to them. But only some of the people of Israel (the Jews) are truly God’s people. {\cf2\super [77]}


Lord, you know about their plans\par to kill me.\par Don’t forgive their crimes.\par Don’t erase their sins.\par Destroy my enemies!\par Punish those people while you are angry!\par

Lord God All-Powerful,\par when will you listen to our prayers?\par Will you be angry at us forever?\par

Don’t worship or serve idols of any kind. Why? Because I, the Lord, am your God. I hate my people worshiping other gods. [125] People who sin against me become my enemies. And I will punish those people. And I will punish their children, their grandchildren, and even their great-grandchildren.


God also said to Moses, “This is what you should tell the people: ‘YAHWEH [21] is the God of your ancestors, [22] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. My name will always be YAHWEH. That is how the people will know me for generations and generations to come.’ {Tell the people,} ‘YAHWEH has sent me to you!’”


Jacob built an altar there to worship God. Jacob named the place “El, the God of Israel.”


Lord, judge the people.\par Gather the nations around you,\par


The supervisors, prefects, {\cf2\super [68]} satraps, advisers, and governors have all agreed on something. We think that the king should make this law. Everyone must obey this law. This is the law: If anyone prays to any god or man, except to you, king, for the next 30 days, then that person will be thrown into the lions’ den (cage).
