You will know these people because of the things they do. Good things don’t come from bad people, the same as grapes don’t come from thorn bushes. And figs don’t come from thorny weeds.


Bad people always try to cheat other people. But good people are honest and fair.


Those evil men started doing wrong\par as soon as they were born.\par They have been liars from birth.\par


John will be a great man for the Lord (God). He will never drink wine or liquor. Even at the time when John is being born, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [6]}


I was born in sin,\par and in sin my mother conceived me.\par


All the people that heard about these things wondered about them. They thought, “What will this child (John) be?” They said this because the Lord (God) was with this child.


Children do foolish things. But if you punish them, they will learn not to do those things.


The Lord gave us eyes to see with and ears to hear with—\{use them\}!


When Josiah was in his eighth year as king, he began to follow the God that David his ancestor followed. Josiah was still young when he began to obey God. When Josiah was in his twelfth year as king he began to destroy the high places {\cf2\super [421]} , the Asherah Poles, {\cf2\super [422]} and idols that were carved and idols that were made from molds from Judah and Jerusalem.
