10 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Put Aaron’s walking stick {back into the Tent} in front of the Agreement. [228] This will be a warning for these people who are always turning against me. This will stop their complaining against me, so that I won’t destroy them.”
10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
10 And the Lord told Moses, Put Aaron's rod back before the Testimony [in the ark], to be kept as a [warning] sign for the rebels; and you shall make an end of their murmurings against Me, lest they die.
10 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that thou mayest make an end of their murmurings against me, that they die not.
10 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Return Aaron’s staff in front of the chest containing the covenant to serve as a sign to the rebels so that their complaints against me end and they don’t die.”
10 And the Lord said to Moses: "Carry back the rod of Aaron into the tabernacle of the testimony, so that it may be kept there as a sign of the rebellion of the sons of Israel, and so that their complaints may be quieted before me, lest they die."
In the Most Holy Place was a golden altar {\cf2\super [94]} for burning incense. {\cf2\super [95]} And also there was the Holy Box of the Agreement. {\cf2\super [96]} The box was covered with gold. Inside this box was a golden jar of manna {\cf2\super [97]} and Aaron’s rod (stick)—the rod that once grew leaves. Also in the box were the flat rocks \{with the Ten Commandments\} of the old agreement \{written on them\}.
My life is in danger.\par My enemies are all around me.\par They are like man-eating lions,\par with teeth as sharp as spears\par and arrows,\par and tongues as sharp as a sword.\par
There were some bad men who were trouble-makers in the group that went with David. Those trouble-makers said, “These 200 men didn’t go with us. So we won’t give them any of the things we took. These men get only their own wives and children.”
He did this the way the Lord commanded him through Moses. This was a sign to help the people of Israel remember that only a person from the family of Aaron should burn incense [215] before the Lord. Any other person who burns incense before the Lord will die like Korah and his followers.
Moses said, “The Lord said: ‘Save a basket [110] of this food for your descendants. [111] Then they can see the food that I gave to you in the desert when I took you out of Egypt.’”
Israel, you have sinned since the time of Gibeah. {\cf2\super [107]} (And those people have continued sinning there.) War truly will catch those evil people at Gibeah.
So Moses brought out all the sticks from the Lord’s place. Moses showed the walking sticks to the people of Israel. They all looked at the sticks, and each man took his own stick back.
“Don’t forget that you made the Lord your God angry in the desert! You have refused to obey the Lord from the day you left the land of Egypt to the day you came to this place.
