But God’s strong foundation {\cf2\super [14]} continues to be the same. These words are written on that foundation: “The Lord knows those people who belong to him.” {\cf2\super [15]} Also, these words are written on that foundation: “Every person who says that he believes in the Lord must stop doing wrong.”


My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me.


The Lord is good to people\par that wait for him.\par The Lord is good to people\par that look for him.\par


The Lord is good!\par His love is forever.\par We can trust him forever and ever!\par \par \par


The Lord will protect me\par when I am in danger.\par He will hide me in his tent. {\cf2\super [163]} \par He will take me up\par to his place of safety.\par


There is much strength in the name of the Lord. It is like a strong tower. Good people can run to him and be safe.


Why? Because the Lord\par protects good people,\par but destroys bad people.\par


But now you know the true God. Really, it is God who knows you. So why do you turn back to those weak and useless rules you followed before? Do you want to be slaves to those things again?


\{Lord\} you are a safe place\par for poor people that have needs.\par Many problems begin to defeat these people,\par but you protect them.\par \{Lord\} you are like a house protecting people\par from floods and heat.\par Troubles are like terrible winds and rain.\par The rain hits the wall and runs down,\par but the people in the house are not hurt.\par


Oh, thank the Lord—he is good.\par The Lord’s love continues forever.\par


There will be sounds of joy and happiness. There will be the happy sounds of a bride and groom. There will be the sounds of people bringing their gifts to the Lord’s temple. {\cf2\super [278]} Those people will say, ‘Praise the Lord All-Powerful! The Lord is good! The Lord’s kindness continues forever!’ The people will say these things because I will again do good things to Judah. It will be like in the beginning.” The Lord said these things.


Lord, I am praying to you\par in my time of trouble.\par I know you will answer me!\par


\{If this would happen\}, then the king {\cf2\super [294]} would be like a place to hide from the wind and rain. It would be like having streams of water in a dry land. It would be like a cool shadow from a large rock in a hot land.


The Lord is truly good.\par He teaches sinners the right way to live.\par


Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Their God has sent his angel and saved his servants from the fire! These three men trusted their God. They refused to obey my command and were willing to die instead of serving or worshiping any other god.


Be my fortress, {\cf2\super [407]} the home I can run to for safety.You are my Rock, {\cf2\super [408]} my place of safety.So give the command to save me.


My followers will call to me for help,\par and I will answer them.\par I will be with them when they have trouble.\par I will rescue them and honor them.\par


But in the morning, I will sing songs of praise to you.\par I will rejoice in your love.\par Why? Because you are my place\par of safety,\par high in the mountains.\par And I can run to you when\par troubles come.\par


\{God says,\}\par “Call for me when you have troubles!\par I will help you.\par And then you can honor me.”\par


King Darius was very happy. He told his servants to lift Daniel out of the lions’ den (cage). And when Daniel was lifted out of the den they did not find any injury on his body. Daniel was not hurt by the lions because he trusted in his God.


So you see that God is kind, but he can also be very strict. God punishes those people that stop following him. But God is kind to you, if you continue following in his kindness. If you don’t continue following him, you will be cut off \{from the tree\}.


Then the Lord sent an angel to the king of Assyria’s camp. That angel killed all the soldiers and the leaders and the officers in the Assyrian army. So the king of Assyria went back home to his own country, and his people were ashamed of him. He went into the temple of his god and some of his own sons killed him there with a sword.


He trusted God. So let God save him now, if God really wants him. He himself said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”


Then I will tell those people clearly, ‘Go away from me, you people that do wrong. I never knew you.’


They sang the response songs, {\cf2\super [14]} Songs of Praise and Praise the Lord Because He is Good. His True Love Continues Forever. And then all the people cheered—they gave a loud shout and praised the Lord. They did this because the foundation of the Lord’s temple had been laid.


Hezekiah is fooling you. You are being tricked into staying in Jerusalem so you will die from hunger and thirst. Hezekiah says to you, “The Lord our God will save us from the king of Assyria.”


The king of Assyria only has men. But we have the Lord our God with us! Our God will help us. He will fight our battles!” So Hezekiah king of Judah encouraged the people and made them feel stronger.


Those men from the family groups of Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad prayed to God in the war. They asked God to help them because they trusted him. So God helped them. God allowed them to defeat the Hagrite people. And they also defeated those other people who were with the Hagrite people.


May the Lord answer your call for help\par when you have troubles.\par May the God of Jacob protect you.\par


The Lord saves good people.\par When good people have troubles,\par the Lord is their strength.\par


The Lord helps good people\par and saves them.\par Good people depend on the Lord,\par and he saves them from bad people.\par


Lord, you are my strength\par and my protection.\par You are a safe place to run to\par in time of trouble.\par The nations will come to you\par from all around the world.\par They will say,\par “Our fathers had false gods.\par They worshiped those worthless idols,\par but those idols did not help them at all.”\par


Lord, don’t ruin me.\par I depend on you in times of trouble.\par


The Lord, the God of Israel, said: “The people of Judah were taken from their country. Their enemy brought them to Babylon. Those people will be like these good figs. I will be kind to those people.


The Lord God will shout from Zion, {\cf2\super [33]} \par He will shout from Jerusalem,\par and the sky and the earth will shake.\par But the Lord God will be a safe place\par for his people.\par He will be a place of safety\par for the people of Israel.\par


I will let only meek and humble people stay in my city (Jerusalem). And they will trust the Lord’s name.


So at that time the people of Israel were defeated, and the people of Judah won. The army from Judah won because they depended on the Lord the God of their ancestors. {\cf2\super [177]}


People who know your name\par should trust you.\par Lord, if people come to you,\par you will not leave them without help.\par


So we are not afraid when the\par earth quakes,\par and the mountains fall into the sea.\par


The people that respect the Lord also listen to his servant. That servant lives completely trusting in God without knowing what will happen. He truly trusts in the Lord’s name, and that servant depends on his God.
