Matthew 4:21 - Easy To Read Version

21 Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee. He saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee. They were preparing their nets to catch fish. Jesus told the brothers to come with him.

James and John, the sons of Zebedee (Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. This name means “Sons of Thunder”);


These are the names of the twelve apostles {\cf2\super [119]} : Simon (also called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John;


Herod ordered James to be killed with a sword. James was the brother of John.


Some of the followers were together. They were Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedee, and two other followers.


Jesus let only Peter, James, and John the brother of James go with him.


Jesus told Peter and the two sons of Zebedee to come with him. Then Jesus began to be very sad and troubled.


Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John the brother of James and went up on a high mountain. They were all alone there.


Simon and Andrew left their nets and followed Jesus.


So the brothers left the boat and their father, and they followed Jesus.
