That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife. This way, two people become one.


Jesus said, “Moses wrote that command for you because you refused to accept God’s teaching.


They were very stubborn.\par They would not obey the law.\par The Lord All-Powerful used his Spirit\par and sent messages to his people\par through the prophets.\par But the people would not listen.\par So the Lord All-Powerful\par became very angry.\par


I say this to give you permission \{to be separated for a time\}. It is not a command.


The demons {\cf2\super [99]} begged Jesus, “If you make us leave these men, please send us into that herd of pigs.”


Jesus answered, “Let it be this way for now. We should do all things that are right.” So John agreed to baptize {\cf2\super [45]} Jesus.


The Lord says these things:\par “Stand at the crossroads and look.\par Ask where the old road is.\par Ask where the good road is,\par and walk on that road.\par If you do, you will find rest for yourselves.\par But you people have said,\par ‘We will not walk on the good road!’\par


God says,\par “Don’t be stubborn,\par like you were at Meribah, {\cf2\super [526]} \par like you were at Massah {\cf2\super [527]} in the desert.\par


Noah and his family went into the boat to be saved from the flood. Noah’s wife and his sons and their wives were on the boat with him.

I tell you that any person that divorces his wife and marries another woman is guilty of the sin of adultery. {\cf2\super [263]} The only reason for a person to divorce and marry again is if his first wife had sexual relations with another man.”


Later Jesus showed himself to the eleven followers while they were eating. Jesus criticized the followers because they had little faith. They were stubborn and refused to believe the people that said Jesus had risen from death.


David had also married Ahinoam of Jezreel. Both Ahinoam and Abigail were David’s wives.
