Mark 4:39 - Easy To Read Version

39 Jesus stood up and commanded the wind and the waves to stop. Jesus said, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind stopped and the lake became calm.

God stopped the storm.\par He calmed the waves.\par


You proudly rule the sea.\par You can calm its angry waves.\par


God made the rough seas calm.\par And God made the “oceans” of people on the earth.\par


The Lord was the King during the flood.\par And the Lord will be the king forever.\par


Surely you are afraid of me.’”\par This message is from the Lord.\par “You should shake with fear in front of me.\par I am the One who made the beaches\par to be a boundary for the sea.\par I made it that way to keep the water\par in its place forever.\par The waves may pound the beach,\par but they will not destroy it.\par The waves may roar as they come in,\par but they can’t go beyond the beach.\par


I was there when the Lord set the limits\par for water in the seas.\par The water can’t rise higher\par than the Lord allows.\par I was there when the Lord made\par the foundations of the earth.\par


God made the fire and hail,\par the snow and smoke,\par and all the stormy winds.\par


I said to the sea,\par ‘You can come this far, but no farther.\par This is where your proud waves\par will stop.’\par


The tall cloud was always with them during the day, and the column of fire was always with them at night.


Jesus saw that all the people were running there to see what was happening. So Jesus spoke to the evil spirit. Jesus said, “You evil spirit that makes this boy deaf and stops him from talking—I command you to come out of this boy and never enter him again!”


Raise the walking stick in your hand over the Red Sea, [93] and the sea will split. Then the people can go across on dry land.


Jesus stood very close to her and commanded the sickness to leave her. The sickness left her. Then she got up and began serving them.


The Lord will speak harshly to the sea,\par and it will become dry.\par He will make all the rivers become dry!\par The rich lands of Bashan and Carmel become dry and dead.\par The flowers in Lebanon fade away.\par


That person should remember that\par the Lord does not reject people forever.\par


Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith.” Then Jesus stood and gave a command to the wind and the waves. The wind stopped, and the lake became very calm.


Jesus was inside the boat, sleeping with his head on a pillow. The followers went to him and woke him. They said, “Teacher, do you care about us? We will drown!”


But Jesus warned the evil spirit to stop. Jesus said, “Be quiet! Come out of the man!” The evil spirit threw the man down on the ground before all the people. Then the evil spirit left the man and did not hurt him.


The followers went to Jesus and woke him. They said, “Master! Master! We will drown!”
