So the Pharisees {\cf2\super [198]} said to each other, “Look! Our plan is not working. All the people are following him!”


The people heard these things that Jesus said. Some of the people said, “This man really is the Prophet. {\cf2\super [116]} ”


But if we say that John’s baptism was from someone else, \{not God,\} then all the people will kill us with rocks. They will kill us because they believe that John was a prophet. {\cf2\super [313]} ”


But we can’t say that John’s baptism was from someone else.” (These leaders were afraid of the people, because the people believed that John was a prophet. {\cf2\super [151]})


The leading priests and the teachers of the law heard these things. They began trying to find a way to kill Jesus. They were afraid of Jesus because all the people were amazed at his teaching.


The men in the meeting said, “We cannot arrest Jesus during Passover. {\cf2\super [394]} We don’t want the people to become angry and cause a riot.”


It is good for a person to wear the yoke {\cf2\super [24]} \par of the Lord.\par It is good for a person to wear that yoke\par from the time he is young.\par


There is no person who is wise enough to make a plan that can succeed if the Lord is against it.


People get a lot of ideas, but only the Lord’s plan will happen.


“You know that the day after tomorrow is Passover. {\cf2\super [391]} On that day the Son of Man {\cf2\super [392]} will be given \{to his enemies\} to be killed on a cross.”


It was now only two days before the Passover {\cf2\super [190]} and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. {\cf2\super [191]} The leading priests and teachers of the law were trying to find a way to arrest Jesus without the people seeing it. Then they could kill him.


Jesus was in Bethany. He was eating in the house of Simon the leper. {\cf2\super [192]} While Jesus was there a woman came to him. The woman had an alabaster {\cf2\super [193]} jar filled with very expensive perfume. This perfume was made of pure nard. {\cf2\super [194]} The woman opened the jar and poured the perfume on Jesus’ head.


It was almost time for the Jewish Festival of Unleavened Bread, {\cf2\super [339]} called the Passover. {\cf2\super [340]}
