Egypt will be empty.\par Edom will be an empty wilderness.\par Why? Because they were cruel\par to the people of Judah.\par They killed innocent people {\cf2\super [36]} \par in their country.\par


I am with you. I will help you. People will till your soil. People will plant seeds in you.


So the Lord my Master says these things, “I am the One making this promise! I swear that the nations around you will have to suffer for those insults.


Babylon will become\par a pile of ruined buildings.\par Babylon will be a place for wild dogs\par to live.\par People will look at that pile of rocks\par and be amazed.\par People will shake their heads\par when they think about Babylon.\par Babylon will be a place\par where no people live.\par


But I will take everything from Esau. {\cf2\super [400]} \par I will find all of his hiding places.\par He will not be able to hide from me.\par His children, relatives, and neighbors\par will all die.\par


“I (the Lord) will make the city of Jerusalem\par a pile of garbage.\par It will be a home for jackals. {\cf2\super [75]} \par I will destroy the cities in the land of Judah,\par so no one will live there.”\par


Now people see mirages {\cf2\super [331]} \{that look like water\}. But at that time there will be real pools of water. There will be wells in the dry land. Water will flow from the ground. Tall water plants will grow where wild animals once ruled.


“If a person comes to me, but will not leave his father, mother, wife, children, brothers, or sisters, then that person cannot be my follower. A person must love me more than he loves anything—even his own life!


The Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your body. The rulers of two families will be born from you. And they will be divided. One son will be stronger than the other. The older son will serve the younger.”


You people living in Dedan, run away!\par Hide! Why? Because I will punish Esau {\cf2\super [399]} for the bad things he did.\par


So listen to what the Lord has planned\par to do to the people of Edom.\par Listen to what the Lord has decided\par to do to the people in Teman. {\cf2\super [402]} \par The enemy will drag away the young kids\par of Edom’s flock (people).\par Edom’s pastures will be empty because of\par what they did.\par


“The land of Hazor will become a place\par where only wild dogs live.\par No person will live there.\par No person will live in that place.\par It will become an empty desert forever.”\par


Your punishment is complete, Zion. {\cf2\super [32]} \par You will not go into captivity again.\par But the Lord will punish your sins,\par people of Edom.\par He will uncover your sins.\par
