Every person who is counted must pay 1Ú2 shekel. (That is 1Ú2 shekel by the official measure. [299] This shekel weighs 20 gerahs. [300])This half shekel is an offering to the Lord.


They must make the payment when the baby is one month old. The cost will be 2 ounces [240] of silver. You must use the official measure [241] to weigh this silver. A shekel by the official measure is 20 gerahs. [242]


Using the official measure, [46] collect five shekels [47] of silver for each of the 273 people. (The shekel by the official measure weighs 20 gerahs. [48])Collect that silver from the people of Israel.
