“I am too insignificant to speak!\par What can I say to you?\par I can’t answer you!\par I will put my hand over my mouth.\par


These things the law {\cf2\super [28]} says are for the people that are under the law. This stops all \{Jewish\} people from making excuses and brings the whole world (Jews and non-Jews) under God’s judgment.


“The tax collector {\cf2\super [288]} stood alone too. But when he prayed, he would not even look up to heaven. The tax collector felt very humble before God. He said, ‘O God, have mercy on me. I am a sinner!’


All you humble people, come to the Lord! Obey his laws. Learn to do good things. Learn to be humble. Maybe then you will be safe when the Lord shows his anger.


Then maybe God will change and not do the things he had planned. Maybe God will change and not be angry. Then maybe we will not be punished.


Who knows, maybe the Lord\par will change his mind.\par And maybe he will leave behind\par a blessing for you.\par Then you can give grain and drink offerings\par to the Lord your God.\par


Israel, there is hope for you.”\par This message is from the Lord.\par “Your children will come back\par to their own land.\par


When these troubles came to him, Manasseh begged for help from the Lord his God. Manasseh humbled himself before the God of his ancestors. {\cf2\super [409]}


“I am very sad,\par so I wear these clothes of sadness.\par I sit here in the dust and ashes,\par and I feel defeated.\par
