The dead man (Lazarus) came out. His hands and feet were wrapped with pieces of cloth. He had a handkerchief covering his face.


But Peter got up and ran to the tomb to see. He looked in, but he saw only the cloth that Jesus’ body had been wrapped in. The cloth was lying there alone. \{Jesus was gone.\} Peter went away to be alone, wondering what had happened.


This woman poured perfume on my body. She did this to prepare me for burial after I die.


Joseph commanded his servants to prepare his father’s body. (These servants were doctors.) The doctors prepared Jacob’s body to be buried. They prepared the body in the special way of the Egyptians.

This woman did the only thing she could do for me. She poured perfume on my body. She did this before I die to prepare me for burial.


Jesus answered, “Don’t stop her. It was right for her to save this perfume for today—the day for me to be prepared for burial.
