The Lord will destroy Babylon very soon.\par He will stop the loud noises in that city.\par Enemies will come roaring in\par like ocean waves.\par People all around will hear that roar.\par


The Lord says,\par “Babylon, you are a destroying mountain,\par and I am against you.\par Babylon, you destroyed the whole country,\par and I am against you.\par I will put my hand out against you.\par I will roll you off the cliffs.\par I will make you into a burned-up mountain.\par


Soldiers around Babylon,\par shout the cry of victory!\par Babylon has surrendered!\par Her walls and towers\par have been pulled down!\par The Lord is giving those people\par the punishment they should have.\par You nations should give Babylon\par the punishment she deserves.\par Do to her what she has done\par to other nations.\par


So these bad things will come to her\par in one day:\par death, sad crying, and great hunger.\par She will be destroyed by fire,\par because the Lord God who judges her\par is powerful.\par


If a trumpet blows a warning, then the people will surely shake with fear. If trouble comes to a city, then the Lord caused it.


\{The Lord says,\}\par “\{Babylon,\} you are my club.\par I used you to smash nations.\par I used you to destroy kingdoms.\par


Your arrows are sharp,\par deep in the heart of your enemies,\par people will fall to the ground\par in front of you.\par


Put your sword on.\par Put on your glorious uniform.\par


\{But the enemy will chase the people of Babylon. And when the enemy\} catches a person, the enemy will kill that person with a sword.
