Yes, the Lord changed Jacob’s {\cf2\super [5]} pride.\par He made it like Israel’s pride.\par \{The enemy\} destroyed them\par and ruined their grapevines.\par


People are crying for the dead everywhere in Moab—on every housetop and in every public square. There is sadness because I have broken Moab like an empty jar.” The Lord said these things.\par


You will be like a large clay jar that breaks and becomes many, many small pieces. Those pieces are useless. You can’t use those pieces to get a hot coal from the fire or to get water from a pool in the ground.”


You could destroy those nations like\par an iron rod shattering a clay pot. {\cf2\super [5]} ”\par


The enemy will attack Moab.\par The enemy will enter those towns\par and destroy them.\par Her best young men will be killed\par in the slaughter.”\par This message is from the King.\par The King’s name is the Lord All Powerful.\par


“Moab has never known trouble.\par Moab is like wine left to settle.\par Moab has never been poured\par from one jar to another.\par He has not been taken into captivity.\par So he tastes like he did before.\par And his smell has not changed.”\par


The Destroyer will come against every town.\par Not one town will escape.\par The valley will be ruined.\par The high plain will be destroyed.\par The Lord said this would happen,\par so it will happen.\par


Shepherds (leaders), you should be leading\par the sheep (people).\par Start crying you great leaders!\par Roll around on the ground in pain,\par you leaders of the sheep (people).\par Why? Because it is now time\par for your slaughter. {\cf2\super [203]} \par \{I will scatter your sheep.\}\par They will scatter everywhere,\par like pieces flying from a broken jar.\par


So I will soon send for all the family groups of the north. {\cf2\super [202]} ” This message is from the Lord. “I will soon send for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He is my servant. I will bring those people against the land of Judah and against the people of Judah. I will bring them against all the nations around you too. I will destroy all of those countries. I will make those lands like an empty desert forever. People will see those countries, and whistle at how badly they were destroyed.


“Jeremiah, you will tell those things to the people. And while they are watching, you will break that jar.


The leaders of the people send their servants\par to get water.\par The servants go to the water storage places,\par but they don’t find any water.\par The servants come back with empty jars.\par So they are ashamed and embarrassed.\par They cover their heads from shame.\par


The women of Moab {\cf2\super [166]} try to cross\par the river Arnon.\par They run from one place to another\par looking for help.\par They are like little birds lost on the ground\par after their nest has fallen from a tree.\par


Then the people of Moab will be ashamed of their false god, Chemosh. {\cf2\super [382]} The people of Israel trusted that \{false god\} in Bethel. {\cf2\super [383]} And the people of Israel were embarrassed \{when that false god did not help them\}. Moab will be like that.
