Surely there is some medicine in Gilead.\par Surely there is a doctor in Gilead.\par So why are the hurts of my people\par


Samaria’s {\cf2\super [13]} wound can’t be healed.\par Her disease (sin) has spread to Judah.\par It has reached the city gate of my people.\par It has spread all the way to Jerusalem.\par


“Fall down in the dirt\par and sit there!\par Virgin daughter of the Chaldeans, {\cf2\super [409]} \par sit on the ground!\par You are not the ruler now!\par People will not think that you are\par a tender, delicate young lady anymore.\par


Nineveh, you have been hurt badly, and nothing can heal your wound. Everyone who hears the news of your destruction claps his hands. They are all happy! Why? Because they all felt the pain you always caused!


“Jeremiah, speak this message\par to the people of Judah:\par ‘My eyes are filled with tears.\par I will cry night and day without stopping.\par I will cry for my virgin daughter. {\cf2\super [123]} \par I will cry for my people.\par Why? Because someone hit them\par and crushed them.\par They have been hurt very badly.\par


And I tell you that you will not leave that jail until you have paid everything you owe.


“The people in Judah and Israel traded with you. They paid for the things you sold with the wheat, olives, early figs, honey, oil, and balm. {\cf2\super [227]}


But Babylon will suddenly fall\par and be broken.\par Cry for her!\par Get medicine for her pain!\par Maybe she can be healed!\par


Then their father Israel said, “If it is really true, then take Benjamin with you. But take some gifts to the governor. Take some of the things we have been able to gather in our land. Take him some honey, pistachio nuts, almonds, gum, and myrrh. [245]


While Joseph was in the well, the brothers sat down to eat. Then they looked and saw a group of traders [226] traveling from Gilead to Egypt. Their camels were carrying many different spices and riches.


Israel, my bride, I will build you again.\par You will be a country again.\par You will pick up your tambourines again.\par You will dance with all the other people\par that are having fun.\par


“People of Israel, fix the road signs.\par Put up the signs that show the way home.\par Watch the road.\par Remember the road you are leaving on.\par Israel, my bride, come home.\par Come back to your towns.\par
