25 Another example is Rahab. Rahab was a prostitute. {\cf2\super [16]} But she was made right with God by something she did: She helped the spies \{for God’s people\}. She welcomed them into her home and helped them escape by a different road. {\cf2\super [17]}

And Rahab, the prostitute, {\cf2\super [155]} welcomed the \{Israelite\} spies and helped them like friends. And because of her faith she was not killed with those other people who refused to obey.


The woman’s house was built into the city wall. It was part of the wall. So the woman used a rope to let the men down through a window.


The woman had hidden the two men. But the woman said, “Those two men did come here, but I didn’t know where they came from.


The city and everything in it belongs to the Lord. [29] Only Rahab the prostitute and all the people in her house will remain alive. These people must not be killed because Rahab helped the two spies.


Joshua son of Nun and all the people were camped at Acacia. [1] Joshua sent out two spies. No one knew that Joshua sent out these men. Joshua said to the men, “Go and look at the land, especially the city of Jericho.”


“Which of the two sons obeyed his father?”


Salmon was the father of Boaz.\par (Boaz’ mother was Rahab.)\par Boaz was the father of Obed.\par (Obed’s mother was Ruth.)\par Obed was the father of Jesse.\par


So you see that Abraham’s faith and the things he did worked together. His faith was made perfect by the things he did.


A person might say, “You have faith, but I do things. Show me your faith! Your faith does nothing. I will show you my faith by the things I do.”


(Rahab said those things, but really, she had taken the men up to the roof, [2] and she was hiding them in the hay [3] she had piled up there.)


Then the woman said to them, “Go {west} into the hills so the king’s men will not accidentally find you. Hide there for three days. After the king’s men come back you can go on your way.”


Jason is keeping them in his house. They all do things against the laws of Caesar. {\cf2\super [348]} They say there is another king called Jesus.”


So you see that a person is made right with God by the things he does. He cannot be made right by faith only.
