Every valley will be filled.\par And every mountain and hill\par will be made flat.\par Roads with turns will be made straight.\par And rough roads will be made smooth.\par


Then I will lead the blind people\par in a way they never knew.\par I will lead the blind people\par to places they have never been before.\par I will change darkness into light for them.\par And I will make the rough ground smooth.\par I will do the things I promised!\par And I will not leave my people.\par


\{God helps us defeat our enemies.\}\par God can break down their bronze gates.\par God can shatter the iron bars on their gates.\par


Babylon’s soldiers have stopped fighting.\par They stay in their forts.\par Their strength is gone.\par They have become like scared women.\par Babylon’s houses are burning.\par The bars of her gates are broken.\par


After a few days there was a meeting of the believers. (There were about 120 of them.) Peter stood up and said,


You people near the city gates, cry!\par You people in the city, cry out!\par All of you people in Philistia\par will be frightened.\par Your courage will melt like hot wax.\par


Only destruction is left for the city. Even the gates are crushed.


I gave Cyrus his power\par so he would do good things. {\cf2\super [406]} \par And I will make his work easy.\par Cyrus will build my city again.\par And he will make my people free.\par Cyrus will not sell my people to me.\par I will not have to pay him\par to do these things.\par The people will be freed,\par and the cost to me will be nothing.”\par The Lord, All-Powerful, said these things.\par

The Lord said to Jeremiah, “Go and tell Hananiah, ‘This is what the Lord says: You have broken a wooden yoke. But I will make a yoke of iron in the place of the wooden yoke.’


The Lord All-Powerful says:\par “Babylon’s thick, strong wall\par will be pulled down.\par Her high gates will be burned.\par The people of Babylon will work hard,\par but it will not help.\par They will become very tired\par trying to save the city.\par But they will only become fuel\par for the flames.”\par

\{Nineveh\}, your people are all like women—and the enemy soldiers are ready to take them. The gates of your land are open wide for your enemies to come in. Fire has destroyed the wooden bars across the gates.


I watched the ram run into things with its horns. I watched the ram run to the west and to the north and to the south. No animal could stop the ram. And no one could save the other animals. That ram could do whatever it wanted to do. So the ram became very powerful.
