Then a powerful angel picked up a large rock. This rock was as big as a large millstone. {\cf2\super [137]} The angel threw the rock into the sea and said:


But the Lord will destroy the proud city.\par And he will punish the people living there.\par The Lord will throw that high city down to the ground.\par It will fall into the dust.\par


And the walls of Jericho fell because of the faith of God’s people. The people marched around the walls of Jericho for seven days, and then the walls fell.


Then say, ‘In the same way, Babylon will sink. Babylon will rise no more. Babylon will sink because of the terrible things that I will make happen here.’”


The Lord All-Powerful says:\par “Babylon’s thick, strong wall\par will be pulled down.\par Her high gates will be burned.\par The people of Babylon will work hard,\par but it will not help.\par They will become very tired\par trying to save the city.\par But they will only become fuel\par for the flames.”\par


This is a sad message about Moab: {\cf2\super [157]} \par One night, armies took the wealth\par from Ar, Moab.\par That night, the city was destroyed.\par One night, armies took the wealth\par from Kir, Moab.\par That night, the city was destroyed.\par


The Lord said, “I will change Babylon. That place will be for animals, {\cf2\super [152]} \{not people\}. That place will be a swamp. I will use the ‘broom of destruction’ to sweep Babylon away.” The Lord All-Powerful said those things.


\{Those proud people are like\} tall towers and high, very strong walls. \{But God will punish those people\}.


You have destroyed the city.\par It was a city protected by strong walls.\par But now it is only a pile of rocks.\par The foreign palace has been destroyed.\par It will never be built again.\par


The Lord destroyed the houses of Jacob. {\cf2\super [9]} \par He destroyed them without mercy.\par He destroyed in his anger\par the fortresses of the Daughter of Judah. {\cf2\super [10]} \par The Lord threw the kingdom of Judah\par and its rulers to the ground.\par He ruined the kingdom of Judah.\par


This message is about the country of Moab. This is what the Lord All-Powerful, the God of the people of Israel, says: {\cf2\super [376]}


Your beauty made you proud.\par Your glory ruined your wisdom.\par So I threw you down to the ground.\par And now other kings stare at you.\par
