You will be completely destroyed\par like thorn bushes burning under a pot.\par You will be destroyed quickly\par like dry weeds that burn fast.\par


Then all of a sudden, a man’s hand appeared and began writing on the wall. The fingers scratched words into the plaster on the wall. The hand wrote on the wall there in the king’s house near the lampstand. The king was watching the hand as it wrote.


King Belshazzar gave a big party for 1,000 of his officials. The king was drinking wine with them.


I will make Babylon’s wise men\par and important officials drunk.\par I will make the governors, officers,\par and soldiers drunk too.\par Then they will sleep forever.\par They will never wake up.”\par The King said these things.\par His name is the Lord All-Powerful.\par


Those people are acting like powerful lions.\par I will give a party for them.\par I will make them drunk.\par They will laugh and have a good time.\par And then they will sleep forever.\par They will never wake up.”\par


“And that’s not all,” Haman added. “I’m the only person Queen Esther invited to be with the king at the party she gave. And the Queen has also invited me to be with the king again tomorrow.


In the morning you will say, ‘I wish it were evening!’ In the evening you will say, ‘I wish it were morning!’ Why? Because of the fear that will be in your heart, and because of the bad things you will see.


That very same night, Belshazzar, king of the Babylonian people, was killed.


The Lord was like an eagle to Israel. An eagle pushes her babies from the nest {to teach them to fly}. She flies with her babies to protect them. She spreads her wings to catch them {when they fall}. And she carries them on her wings {to a safe place}. The Lord is like that.


I am scared and shaking.\par I am terrified.\par


All of Adonijah’s guests were scared and left very quickly.


Oh, I wish I had wings like a dove.\par I would fly away\par and find a place to rest.\par


Oh, my sadness and worry is making\par my stomach hurt.\par I am bent over in pain.\par Oh, I am so scared.\par My heart is pounding inside me.\par I can’t keep quiet. Why?\par Because I have heard the trumpet blow.\par The trumpet is calling the army to war!\par
