¹ This is the vision {\cf2\super [1]} of Isaiah son of Amoz. God showed Isaiah things that would happen to Judah and Jerusalem. Isaiah saw these things during the time Uzziah, {\cf2\super [2]} Jotham, {\cf2\super [3]} Ahaz, {\cf2\super [4]} and Hezekiah {\cf2\super [5]} were kings of Judah.

At that time, the Lord spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. The Lord said, “Go, take the cloth of sadness off your waist. Take your shoes off your feet.” Isaiah obeyed the Lord. And Isaiah walked around without clothes and without shoes.

Hezekiah sent Eliakim the palace manager, Shebna the royal secretary, and the elders (leaders) of the priests {\cf2\super [347]} to the prophet, Isaiah son of Amoz. They wore the special clothes \{that showed they were sad and upset\}.
