Hosea 8:7 - Easy To Read Version

7 The Israelites \{did a foolish thing\}—it was like trying to plant the wind. But \{they will get only troubles\}—they will harvest a whirlwind. The grain in the fields will grow. It will give no food. Even if it grew something, strangers would eat it.

A person who spreads trouble will harvest trouble. And in the end, that person will be destroyed because of the trouble he gave other people.


I have seen some troublemakers\par and people who make life hard.\par But they are always punished!\par


Don’t be fooled: You cannot cheat God. A person harvests only the things he plants. {\cf2\super [75]}

Look, the Lord is coming with fire. The Lord’s armies are coming with clouds of dust. The Lord will punish those people with his anger. The Lord will use flames of fire to punish those people while he is angry.


You will plant your grapevines one day and try to make them grow. The next day the plants will begin to grow. But at harvest time, you will go to gather the fruit from the plants, and you will see that everything is dead. A sickness will kill all the plants.


That is very sad. He will leave the world the same way he came. So, what does a person gain from his “trying to catch the wind”?

Why waste your money on something\par that is not real food?\par Why should you work for something\par that does not really satisfy you?\par Listen very closely to me,\par and you will eat the good food.\par You will enjoy the food\par that satisfies your soul.\par


Our land has been turned over to strangers.\par Our houses have been given to foreigners.\par


Ephraim {\cf2\super [97]} will be punished.\par Their root is dying.\par They will not have any more babies.\par They might give birth to babies,\par but I will kill the precious babies\par that come from their bodies.\par


You have planted many seeds, but you have gathered only a few crops. You have food to eat, but not enough to get full. You have something to drink, but not enough to get drunk. And then seven more heads of grain grew after them. But they were thin and scorched by the hot wind.
