You can see that Melchizedek {\cf2\super [57]} was very great. Abraham, {\cf2\super [58]} our great father, {\cf2\super [59]} gave Melchizedek one-tenth of everything that Abraham won in battle.


“Every third year is the Year of Tithes. In that year, you must give one tenth of your harvest to the Levites, [161] to the foreigners living in your country, and to the widows [162] and orphans. [163] Then those people will have plenty to eat in every city.


Yes, if a person continues asking, that person will receive. If a person continues looking, that person will find. And if a person continues knocking, the door will open for that person.


Those priests get one-tenth, but they are only men who live and then die. But Melchizedek, who got one-tenth \{from Abraham\}, continues living, like the Scriptures {\cf2\super [61]} say.


Levi was not yet born. But Levi was in the body of his ancestor Abraham when Melchizedek met Abraham.
