So Esau said, “Then I will leave some of my men with you to help you.”


But Jacob went to Succoth. In that place he built a house for himself and small barns for his cattle. That is why the place was named Succoth. [194]


Jacob’s brother Esau was living in the area called Seir. This area was the hill country of Edom. [190] Jacob sent messengers to Esau.


The rulers of the Philistine people went to Delilah. They said, “We want to know what makes Samson so strong. Try to trick him into telling you his secret. Then we will know how to capture him and tie him up. Then we will be able to control him. If you do this, each one of us will give you 28 pounds [114] of silver.”
