“The flag of the camp of Judah will be on the east side, where the sun rises. The people of Judah will camp near its flag. The leader of the people of Judah is Nahshon son of Amminadab.


Amram’s children were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam.


Ram was Amminadab’s father. And Amminadab was Nahshon’s father. Nahshon was the leader of the people of Judah. [19]

Ram was the father of Amminadab.\par Amminadab was the father of Nahshon.\par Nahshon was the father of Salmon.\par


“Now, bring Aaron and his son Eleazar up to Mount Hor.


Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the 70 elders (leaders) of Israel went up the mountain.


{God} told Moses, “You, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the 70 elders (leaders) of Israel must come up the mountain and worship me from a distance.


During the time when Herod {\cf2\super [2]} ruled Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah. Zechariah belonged to Abijah’s group. {\cf2\super [3]} Zechariah’s wife came from the family of Aaron. Her name was Elizabeth.


Aaron had two sons that were still alive, Eleazar and Ithamar. Moses talked to Aaron and his two sons. Moses said, “Some of the grain offering is left from the sacrifices that were burned on the fire. You will eat that part of the grain offering. But you must eat it without adding yeast. Eat it near the altar. [120] Why? Because that offering is very holy. [121]


{The Lord said to Moses,} “Tell your brother Aaron and his sons, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar, to come to you from the people of Israel. These men will serve me as priests.


Then Moses spoke to Aaron and his other sons Eleazar and Ithamar. Moses told them, “{Don’t show any sadness!} Don’t tear your clothes or mess up your hair! [116] Don’t show your sadness and you will not be killed. And the Lord will not be angry against all the people. All the people of Israel are your relatives—they can cry about the Lord burning Nadab and Abihu.


Moses removed Aaron’s special clothes and put those clothes on Aaron’s son Eleazar. Then Aaron died there on top of the mountain. Moses and Eleazar came back down the mountain.


Aaron’s son, Eleazar, died and was buried at Gibeah in the hill country of Ephraim. Gibeah had been given to Eleazar’s son Phinehas.
