Peter and the other apostles {\cf2\super [98]} answered, “We must obey God, not you!


I will show you the One to fear. You should fear him (God) who has the power to kill you and also to throw you into hell. Yes, he is the One you should fear.


Don’t be afraid of people. They can only kill the body. They cannot kill the soul. The only one you should fear is the One (God) that can destroy the body and the soul. He can send the body and the soul to hell.

A sinner might do a hundred evil things. And he might have a long life. But I know that it is still better to obey and respect God.


God, you have hidden away many wonderful things for your followers.\par You do good things in front of everyone for the people who trust you.\par


After three days, Joseph said to them, “I am a God-fearing man! Do this, and I will let you live.

They also made those people give them food and wine. The leaders under those governors also ruled over the people \{and made life even harder\}. But I respected and feared God, so I didn’t do things like that.


Why? Because you obey the laws of Omri. {\cf2\super [78]} \par You do all the \{bad\} things\par that Ahab’s family does.\par You follow their teachings.\par So I will let you be destroyed.\par People will whistle in amazement\par when they see your destroyed city.\par Then you will bear the shame\par that the other nations bring to you. {\cf2\super [79]} \par


Then Abraham said, “{I was afraid.} I thought no one in this place respected God. I thought someone would kill me to get Sarah.


The king of Egypt called for the nurses and told them, “Why did you do this? Why did you let the boy babies live?”


Then the king told the guards at his side, “Go and kill the priests of the Lord. Do this because they are on David’s side also. They knew David was running away, but they didn’t tell me!”


King David very strongly commanded Joab and the captains of the army to count the people. So Joab and the captains of the army went out from the king to count the people of Israel.


Then the king’s leaders at the gate asked Mordecai, “Why don’t you obey the king’s command to bow down to Haman?”
