16 The king said, “You will continue to help the Hebrew [2] women give birth to their children. If a girl baby is born, then let the baby live. But if the baby is a boy, then you must kill him!”

So Pharaoh [5] gave this command to his own people: “Let all the girl babies live. But every time a {Hebrew} boy baby is born, you must throw him into the Nile River.”


“But when the farmers saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the owner’s son. This vineyard will be his. If we kill him, then it will be ours!’

This king tricked (deceived) our people. He was bad to our ancestors. The king made them put their children outside to die.


And the mother and father of Moses hid Moses for three months after he was born. They did this because they had faith. They saw that Moses was a beautiful baby. And they were not afraid to disobey the king’s (Pharaoh’s) order.


There were two nurses who helped the Israelite women give birth to children. They were named Shiphrah and Puah. The king of Egypt talked to the nurses.


So the Egyptians began to hate\par Jacob’s family.\par They made plans against their slaves.\par
