Ecclesiastes 8:14 - Easy To Read Version

14 There is something else that happens on earth that does not seem fair. Bad things should happen to bad people and good things should happen to good people. But sometimes bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. That is not fair.

King James Version (Oxford) 1769

14 There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.

14 Here also is a futility that goes on upon the earth: there are righteous men who fare as though they were wicked, and wicked men who fare as though they were righteous. I say that this also is vanity (emptiness, falsity, and futility)!

14 Here’s another thing that happens on earth that is pointless: the righteous get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked get what the righteous deserve. I say that this too is pointless.

14 There is also another vanity, which is done upon the earth. There are the just, to whom evils happen, as though they had done the works of the impious. And there are the impious, who are very secure, as though they possess the deeds of the just. But this, too, I judge to be a very great vanity.

Ecclesiastes 8:14
16 Referencias Cruzadas

In my short life, I have seen everything. I have seen good men die young. And I have seen evil men living long lives.

We think proud people are happy. Evil people succeed. They do bad things to test God’s patience—and God does not punish them.”

It is like this: A wise man uses his mind like eyes to see where he is going. But a fool is like someone walking in the dark.

I saw that wicked people were successful\par I became jealous of those proud people.\par

Why do evil people live long lives?\par Why do they grow old and successful?\par

Lord, if I argue with you,\par you are always right!\par But I want to ask you about some things that don’t seem right.\par Why are wicked people successful?\par Why do people you can’t trust have such easy lives?\par

Here is something else that I have seen in this life. And it is not fair. It is the kind of mistake that rulers make:

A person might not have any family. He might not have a son or even a brother. But that person will continue to work very, very hard. That person is never satisfied with what he has. And he works so hard that he never stops and asks himself, “Why am I working so hard? Why don’t I let myself enjoy my life?” This is also a very bad and senseless thing.

Then I thought, “Why do people work so hard?” I saw people try to succeed and be better than other people. Why? Because people are jealous. They don’t want other people to have more than they have. This is senseless. It is like trying to catch the wind. {\cf2\super [21]}

All of those things happened, but Job didn’t sin. Job didn’t say that God did anything wrong.

You have seen God’s power\par with your own eyes.\par So why do you say such useless things?\par
