God began by making one man (Adam). From him God made all the different people. God made them to live everywhere in the world. God decided exactly when and where they must live.


A holy angel announced this punishment. Why? So all the people on earth may know that God Most High rules over the kingdoms of men. God gives those kingdoms to anyone he wants to. And God chooses humble people to rule those kingdoms!


Heaven belongs to the Lord.\par But he gave the earth to people.\par


But Lord, you will be honored forever.\par


You can go to God Most-High to hide.\par You can go to the God All-Powerful\par for protection.\par


Eber was the father of two sons. One son was named Peleg. [63] He was given this name because the earth was divided during his life. The other son was named Joktan.


Canaan was the father of Sidon. Sidon was Canaan’s first son. Canaan was also the father of {Het, the father of} the Hittite people.


“But the Most High (God) does not live in houses that men build with their hands. This is what the prophet {\cf2\super [146]} writes:


“King, God Most High made your grandfather {\cf2\super [58]} Nebuchadnezzar a very great and powerful king. God made him very important.


I will go up to the altar in the clouds.\par I will be like God Most-High.”\par


I (God) say,\par “You are gods.\par You are sons of God Most-High.\par


So bring your thank offerings {\cf2\super [301]} \par \{to share with the other worshipers\}\par and come to be with God.\par You made promises to God Most High,\par so give him the things you promised.\par


I praise the Lord because he is good.\par I praise the name of the Lord Most-High.\par


I heard this message from God. I learned what God Most-High taught me. I saw what God All-Powerful [300] showed me. I humbly tell what I clearly see.


I see those people from the mountain. I see them from the high hills. Those people live alone. They are not part of another nation.


So Israel will live in safety, Jacob’s well belongs to them. They will get a land of grain and wine. And that land will get plenty of rain.


You set the limits for everything on earth.\par And you created summer and winter.\par


So we will not be able\par to measure the land\par and divide it among the Lord’s people.’”\par


All the people who lived in the area around the Mediterranean Sea came from these sons of Japheth. Each son had his own land. All the families grew and became different nations. Each nation had its own language.


The Lord said to Israel:\par “I will give the land of Canaan to you.\par The promised land will be yours.”\par


They alone lived in their country.\par There were no foreigners passing through.\par \{So no person told them strange ideas.\}\par
