The Lord punished the nations.\par But the Lord was kind to his servants.\par


God always remembered his Agreement {\cf2\super [563]} \par and comforted them with his great love.\par


The Lord saw that all the Israelites had many troubles, slaves and free men. No person was left that could help Israel.


So, Jeroboam, I will bring troubles to your family. I will kill all of the men in your family. I will destroy your family completely, like fire completely destroys dung.


Many times the enemies of Israel did bad things to the people. So the people of Israel would cry for help. And each time, the Lord felt sorry for the people. Each time he sent a judge to save the people from their enemies. The Lord was always with those judges. So each time, the people of Israel were saved from their enemies.


We know that God said, “I will punish people \{for the wrong things they do\}; I will repay them.” {\cf2\super [139]} And God also said, “The Lord will judge his people.” {\cf2\super [140]}


Then the Lord changed his mind about this. The Lord God said, “That thing will not happen either.”


Then the Lord changed his mind about this. The Lord said, “That thing will not happen.”


Who knows, maybe the Lord\par will change his mind.\par And maybe he will leave behind\par a blessing for you.\par Then you can give grain and drink offerings\par to the Lord your God.\par


\{God says,\}\par “You know that Ephraim {\cf2\super [255]} is my dear son.\par I love that child.\par Yes, I often criticized Ephraim,\par but I still think about him.\par I love him very much.\par And I really do want to comfort him.”\par This message is from the Lord.\par


Be happy because the Lord is coming.\par The Lord is coming to rule {\cf2\super [529]} the world.\par He will rule the world with justice\par and fairness.\par


Lord, always come back to us.\par Be kind to your servants.\par


Our God calls to the earth and sky\par to \{be witnesses as he\} judges his people.\par


and judge the people.\par Lord, judge me.\par Prove that I am right.\par Prove that I am innocent.\par


So all Ahab’s family will die. I will not let any male child in Ahab’s family live. It doesn’t matter if that male child is a slave or a free person in Israel.


So the Lord says to you, ‘I will destroy you. I will kill you and every male in your family.


“The land will be empty. The land will enjoy its time of rest. Then the survivors [454] will accept the punishment for their sins. They will learn that they were punished because they hated my laws and refused to obey my rules.


But the Lord is with me.\par The Lord is like a strong soldier.\par So the people that are chasing me will fall.\par Those people will not defeat me.\par Those people will fail.\par They will be disappointed.\par Those people will be ashamed.\par And people will never forget that shame.\par


So the Lord felt sorry {for the people}. The Lord did not do the thing that he said he might do—he did not destroy the people.


‘If you people will stay in Judah, I will make you strong—I will not destroy you. I will plant you, and I will not pull you up. I will do this because I am sad about the terrible things that I made happen to you.


“The man dressed in linen {\cf2\super [136]} and standing over the water lifted his right and left hands toward heaven. And I heard him make a promise using the name of God who lives forever. He said, ‘It will be for three and one-half years. {\cf2\super [137]} The power of the holy people will be broken, and then all these things will finally come true.’


Then the Lord became excited about his land.\par He felt sorry for his people.\par
