Deuteronomy 32:20 - Easy To Read Version

20 So the Lord said, ‘I will turn away from them, then let’s see what happens! They are a rebellious people. They are like children who won’t learn their lessons!

And you are not really his children. Your sins would make him dirty. You are crooked liars.


I tell you, God will help his people quickly! But when the Son of Man {\cf2\super [282]} comes again, will he find people on earth who believe in him?”


Jesus answered, “You people don’t believe! How long must I stay with you? How long must I continue to be patient with you? Bring the boy to me!”


Jesus answered, “You people have no faith. Your lives are all wrong. How long must I stay with you? How long must I continue to be patient with you? Bring the boy here.”


But even if the Israelites do raise their children, \{it will not help\}. I will take the children away from them. I will leave them, and they will have nothing but troubles.


I will scatter the people of Judah.\par They will run from their enemies.\par I will scatter the people of Judah like\par an east wind that blows things away.\par I will destroy those people.\par They won’t see me coming to help them.\par No! They will see me leaving!”\par


We don’t worship you.\par We don’t trust in your name.\par We aren’t excited about following you.\par So you have turned away from us.\par We are helpless before you,\par because we are full of sin.\par


These people are like children that refuse to obey \{their parents\}. They lie and refuse to listen to the Lord’s teachings.


Their plan will not succeed while Samaria is the capital of Ephraim (Israel) and while the ruler of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. {\cf2\super [81]} If you don’t believe this message then people should not believe you.”


But if God decides not to help them,\par then no person can judge God guilty.\par If God hides himself from people,\par then no person can find him.\par God is the ruler over people and nations.\par


God, why do you avoid me,\par and treat me like your enemy?\par


Jehoshaphat’s army went out into the Desert of Tekoa early in the morning. As they were starting out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me people of Judah and you people from Jerusalem. Have faith in the Lord your God, and then you will stand strong. Have faith in the Lord’s prophets. You will succeed!”


I know that after my death you will become evil. You will turn from the way I commanded you to follow. Bad things will happen to you in the future. Why? Because you want to do the things that the Lord says are evil. You will make him angry because of the bad things you do.”


Without faith, a person cannot please God. Any person who comes to God must believe that God is real. And any person who comes to God must believe that God rewards those people who truly want to find him.


And pray that we will be protected from bad and evil people. (Not all people believe \{in the Lord\}.)


And you did not obey when the Lord told you to leave Kadesh Barnea. He said, ‘Go up and take the land I am giving you.’ But you refused to obey the Lord your God. You did not trust him. You did not listen to his command.


With the Lord’s help, one man from Israel could defeat 1,000 enemy soldiers. Why? Because the Lord your God fights for you. The Lord promised to do this.


So the Lord became very angry at Israel and took them out of his sight. There were no Israelites left, except the family group of Judah!


The Lord rejected all the people of Israel. He brought them many troubles. He let people destroy them. And, finally, he threw them away and put them out of his sight.


until the Lord took Israel away from his sight. And the Lord said this would happen! He sent his prophets to tell the people this would happen. So the Israelites were taken out of their country into Assyria. And they have been there to this day.


The prophets tell lies.\par The priests will not do\par what they were chosen to do. {\cf2\super [36]} \par And my people love it this way!\par But what will you people do\par when your punishment comes?”\par
