Deuteronomy 28:52 - Easy To Read Version

52 “That nation will surround and attack your cities. You think that the tall, strong walls around your cities will protect you. But those walls will fall down. The enemy will surround all your cities everywhere in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

The king was very angry. The king sent his army to kill those people that killed his servants. And the army burned their city.


I will bring all the nations together to fight against Jerusalem. They will capture the city and destroy the houses. The women will be raped, and half of the people will be taken away as prisoners. But the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.


“Look, I will make Jerusalem like a cup of poison to the nations around her. The nations will come and attack that city. And all of Judah will be caught in the trap.


After the 62 weeks, {\cf2\super [112]} the chosen person will be killed. {\cf2\super [113]} He will be gone. {\cf2\super [114]} Then the people of the future leader will destroy the city and the holy place. That end will come like a flood. War will continue until the end. God has ordered that place to be completely destroyed.


After that, the army from Babylon will come back here. They will attack Jerusalem. Then that army from Babylon will capture and burn Jerusalem.’


The Lord says:\par “This time, I will throw the people of Judah out of this country.\par I will bring pain and trouble to them.\par I will do this so they will learn their lesson.” {\cf2\super [84]} \par


The Lord made a promise.\par The Lord used his own power as proof.\par And the Lord will use his power\par to keep that promise.\par


“Your land is ruined. Your cities have been burned with fire. Your enemies have taken your land. Your land is ruined like a country destroyed by armies.


During the 14th year that Hezekiah was king, Sennacherib king of Assyria went to fight against all the strong cities of Judah. Sennacherib defeated all those cities.


You will have broken my Agreement, so I will punish you. I will bring armies against you. You will go into your cities for safety. But I will cause diseases to spread among you. And your enemies will defeat you.


They will take your animals and the food you grow. They will take everything until they destroy you. They will not leave you any grain, wine, oil, cows, sheep or goats. They will take everything, until they destroy you.


So we boiled my son and ate him. Then the next day, I said to this woman, ‘Give me your son so we can {kill him and} eat him.’ But she has hidden her son!”


Get everything you own and prepare to leave.\par You people of Judah are caught in the city,\par and the enemy is all around it.\par


The Lord destroyed the houses of Jacob. {\cf2\super [9]} \par He destroyed them without mercy.\par He destroyed in his anger\par the fortresses of the Daughter of Judah. {\cf2\super [10]} \par The Lord threw the kingdom of Judah\par and its rulers to the ground.\par He ruined the kingdom of Judah.\par
