Daniel 9:26 - Easy To Read Version

26 After the 62 weeks, {\cf2\super [112]} the chosen person will be killed. {\cf2\super [113]} He will be gone. {\cf2\super [114]} Then the people of the future leader will destroy the city and the holy place. That end will come like a flood. War will continue until the end. God has ordered that place to be completely destroyed.

But he will destroy completely his enemies.\par He will wash them away like a flood.\par He will chase his enemies\par into the darkness.\par


Men used force and took him—and they did not judge him fairly. No person can tell about his future family, because he was taken from the land of living people. He was punished to pay for the sins of my people.


Jesus said, “Are you looking at these great buildings? They will all be destroyed. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground. Not one stone will be left on another.”


Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross. He did this so that we would stop living for sin and live for what is right. By his (Christ’s) wounds you were healed.


The prophets said that the Christ {\cf2\super [392]} must suffer these things before he enters his glory.”


Jesus answered, “They are right to say that Elijah {\cf2\super [109]} must come first. Elijah makes all things the way they should be. But why does the Scripture {\cf2\super [110]} say that the Son of Man {\cf2\super [111]} will suffer much and that people will think he is worth nothing?


Jesus asked the followers, “Are you looking at these buildings? I tell you the truth. They will be destroyed. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground. Not one stone will be left on another.”


Christ himself died for you. And that one death paid for your sins. He was not guilty, but he died for people who are guilty. He did this to bring you all to God. His body was killed, but he was made alive in the spirit.


The law put a curse on us. But Christ took away that curse. He changed places with us. Christ put himself under that curse. The Scriptures say, “When a person’s body is put (hung) on a tree, {\cf2\super [32]} that person is under a curse.” {\cf2\super [33]}


“‘The northern king’s sons will prepare for war. They will get a large army together. That army will move through the land very quickly, like a powerful flood. That army will fight all the way to the strong fort of the southern king.


“Then the future ruler will make an agreement with many people. That agreement will continue for one week. {\cf2\super [115]} The offerings and sacrifices will stop for a half of a week. {\cf2\super [116]} And a destroyer will come. He will do terrible, destructive things! {\cf2\super [117]} But God has ordered that destroyer to be completely destroyed.”


But I, the Lord, will bring the king of Assyria and all his power against you. They will come like a powerful flood of water from the Euphrates River. It will be like water rising up and over the river banks.


That is what you were called to do. Christ gave you an example to follow. You should do the same as he did. \{You should be patient when you suffer,\} because Christ suffered for you.


I will not talk with you much longer. The ruler of this world (the devil) is coming. He has no power over me.


Jesus said to them, “It is written that the Christ {\cf2\super [398]} would be killed and rise from death on the third day.


Some of the people will be killed by soldiers. Other people will be made prisoners and taken to every country. The holy city of Jerusalem will be walked on by non-Jewish people until their time is finished.


You will hear about wars that are being fought. And you will hear stories about other wars beginning. But don’t be afraid. These things must happen before the end comes.


The king was very angry. The king sent his army to kill those people that killed his servants. And the army burned their city.


“The kingdom of heaven is like a king that prepared a wedding dinner for his son.


My Master, the Lord All-Powerful,\par will touch the land,\par and the land will melt.\par Then all the people that live in the land\par will cry for the dead people.\par The land will rise and fall\par like the Nile River in Egypt.\par


The whole land will shake\par because of those things.\par Every person that lives in the land\par will cry for people that died.\par The whole land will rise and fall\par like the Nile River in Egypt.\par The land will be tossed around.”\par


Then \{the Lord\} said, “Name him Lo-Ammi. {\cf2\super [8]} Why? Because you are not my people. I am not your God.”


Who is coming like the Nile River?\par Who is coming like that strong, fast river?\par


My mouth {\cf2\super [127]} is as dry\par as a piece of broken pottery.\par My tongue is sticking\par to the top of my mouth.\par You have put me in the “dust of death.”\par


But Jesus said, “The time will come when all that you see here will be destroyed. Every stone \{of these buildings\} will be thrown down to the ground. Not one stone will be left on another!”


Now your house will be left completely empty.


The northern king will decide to use all of his power to fight against the southern king. He will make an agreement with the southern king. The king of the north will let one of his daughters marry the southern king. The northern king will do that so he can defeat the southern king, but those plans will not succeed. His plans will not help him.


The sea will rise over Babylon.\par Its roaring waves will cover her.\par


He will defeat large and powerful armies. He will even defeat the Leader with the Agreement.


The Gibeonites said to King David, “Saul made plans against us. He tried to destroy all our people living in the land of Israel.


Look, my Master has a person\par that is strong and brave.\par That person will come into the country\par like a storm of hail and rain.\par He will come like a storm into the country.\par He will be like a powerful river of water\par flooding the country.\par He will throw that crown (Samaria)\par down to the ground.\par


Now, you must not fight against those things. If you do, the ropes around you will become tighter.


“‘The northern king will do whatever he wants. He will brag about himself. He will praise himself and think that he is even better than a god. He will say things that no one has ever heard of. He will say those things against the God of gods. He will be successful until all the bad things have happened. What God has planned to happen will happen.
