9 Then a little horn grew from one of those four horns. That little horn grew and became very big. It grew toward the southeast. It grew toward the Beautiful Land.

“‘The northern king will do whatever he wants. No one will be able to stop him. He will gain power and control in the Beautiful land. And he will have the power to destroy it.


“I was thinking about those horns, and then another horn grew up among those horns. This horn was a little horn. There were eyes on this little horn—the eyes looked like a person’s eyes. And there was a mouth on this little horn. And the mouth was bragging. The little horn pulled out three of the other horns.


I made another promise to those people in the desert. I promised that I would not bring them into the land I was giving them. That was a good land filled with many good things. {\cf2\super [142]} It was the most beautiful of all countries!


On that day, I promised to take you out of Egypt and lead you to the land I was giving to you. That was a good land filled with many good things. {\cf2\super [141]} It was the most beautiful of all countries!


God’s holy city is at such a pleasant altitude!\par It makes people around the world happy!\par Mount Zion is the true mountain of God. {\cf2\super [288]} \par It is the city of the Great King.\par


I will bring the other nations against them\par like a storm.\par They didn’t know those nations,\par but the country will be destroyed\par after those nations pass through.\par This pleasant country will be destroyed.”\par


But Daniel, before I go, I must first tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. No one stands with me against those evil angels except Michael. Michael is the prince (angel) ruling over your people.


“I, the Lord, said to myself,\par ‘I want to treat you like my own children.\par I want to give you a pleasant land,\par a land more beautiful\par than any other nation.’\par I thought that you would call me ‘Father.’\par I thought that you would always follow me.\par


Jacob’s family became very large.\par They became more powerful\par than their enemies.\par
