Acts 8:27 - Easy To Read Version

27 So Philip got ready and went. On the road he saw a man from Ethiopia. This man was a eunuch. {\cf2\super [173]} He was an important officer in the service of Candace, the queen of the Ethiopians. He was responsible for taking care of all her money. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship.

People will come all the way from the other side of the river in Ethiopia. My scattered people will come to me. My worshipers will come and bring their gifts to me.


Make them bring wealth from Egypt.\par God, make the Ethiopians bring their wealth to you.\par


But a man named Ebed Melech heard that those officials had put Jeremiah into the cistern. {\cf2\super [325]} Ebed Melech was a man from Ethiopia, and he was a eunuch {\cf2\super [326]} in the king’s house. King Zedekiah was sitting at the Benjamin Gate. So Ebed Melech left the king’s house and went to talk to the king at that gate.


\{God keeps a list of all of his people.\}\par Some of them live in Egypt {\cf2\super [497]} and Babylon.\par Some of them were born in Philistia, Tyre,\par and even Ethiopia.\par


There were some Greek people there too. These were some of the people that went to Jerusalem to worship at the Passover {\cf2\super [199]} festival.


On the judgment day, you people that live now will also be compared with the Queen of the South, {\cf2\super [181]} and she will be a witness to show that you are wrong (guilty). Why? Because she traveled from far, far away to listen to Solomon’s wise teaching. And I tell you that someone greater than Solomon is right here, \{but you won’t listen to me\}!


A black man can’t change\par the color of his skin.\par And a leopard can’t change his spots.\par In the same way, Jerusalem, you can’t change and do good.\par You always do bad things.\par


I will put a mark on some of the people—\{I will save them\}. I will send some of these saved people to the nations Tarshish, {\cf2\super [480]} Libya, {\cf2\super [481]} Lud {\cf2\super [482]} (the land of archers {\cf2\super [483]}), Tubal, {\cf2\super [484]} Greece, and all the faraway lands. Those people have never heard my teachings. Those people have never seen my Glory. {\cf2\super [485]} So the saved people will tell the nations about my glory.


Herds of camels from Midian and Ephah\par will cross your land.\par Long lines of camels will come from Sheba.\par They will bring gold and incense.\par People will sing praises to the Lord.\par


The nations will come to your Light (God).\par Kings will come to your bright Light.\par


The Lord says,\par “Egypt and Ethiopia are rich,\par but Israel, you will get those riches.\par The tall people from Seba will be yours.\par They will walk behind you\par with chains around their necks.\par They will bow down before you.\par And they will pray to you.”\par \{Israel\}, God is with you.\par And there is no other God.\par


I will tell the north: Give my people to me! I will tell the south: Don’t keep my people in prison! Bring my sons and daughters to me from the faraway places!


Kings will bring their wealth to you,\par to your palace in Jerusalem.\par


The queen of Sheba heard about Solomon. So she came to test him with hard questions.


God called Abraham to travel to another place that God promised to give Abraham. Abraham did not know where that other place was. But Abraham obeyed God and started traveling, because Abraham had faith.


“Jeremiah, go and tell Ebed-Melech, {\cf2\super [332]} the man from Ethiopia, this message: ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of the people of Israel, says: Very soon I will make my messages about this city of Jerusalem come true. My messages will come true through disaster and not good things. You will see everything come true with your own eyes.


At that time, a special offering will be brought to the Lord All-Powerful. The offering will come from the people that are tall and strong. (People in all places are afraid of these tall and strong people. They are a powerful nation. Their nation defeats other nations. They are in a country divided by rivers.) This offering will be brought to the Lord’s place, Mount Zion. {\cf2\super [186]}


Now he was on his way home. He was sitting in his chariot {\cf2\super [174]} and reading from the book of Isaiah, the prophet. {\cf2\super [175]}


This command is not on the other side of the sea so that you should say, ‘Who will go across the sea for us and bring it to us, so that we can hear it and do it?’
