The singers obeyed orders from the king. Those orders from the king told the singers what to do from day to day.


King Nebuchadnezzar gave those young men a certain amount of food and wine every day. That was the same kind of food that the king ate. The king wanted those young men from Israel to be trained for three years. Then after three years, the young men would become servants of the king of Babylon.


So in the days of Zerubbabel and of Nehemiah, all the people of Israel gave every day to support the singers and gatekeepers. The people also set aside the money for the other Levites. And the Levites set aside the money for the descendants {\cf2\super [78]} of Aaron (the priests).


More and more people were becoming followers of Jesus. But during this same time, the Greek-speaking followers had an argument with the other Jewish followers. They said that their widows {\cf2\super [107]} were not getting their share of the things that the followers received every day.


Every day the king of Babylon gave Jehoiachin an allowance. This continued until Jehoiachin died.


“Be kind to the children of Barzillai of Gilead. Let them be your friends and eat at your table. They helped me when I ran away from your brother Absalom.


I will throw you and your mother into another country where neither of you was born. You and your mother will die in that country.
