12 The messenger that went to get Micaiah said to him, “Micaiah, listen, all the prophets say the same thing. They are saying the king will have success. So say the same things they are saying. You also say good things.”

\{These people don’t want to listen to me.\}\par But if a man came telling lies\par then they would accept him.\par They would accept a false prophet\par if he comes and says,\par “There will be good times in the future,\par with plenty of wine and beer.”\par


People say, “Don’t preach to us.\par Don’t say those bad things about us.\par Nothing bad will happen to us.”\par


But don’t prophesy {\cf2\super [94]} any more here at Bethel! This is Jeroboam’s holy place. This is Israel’s temple!”


Their evil makes their king happy.\par Their false gods please their leaders.\par


They tell the prophets, “Don’t see dreams {\cf2\super [278]} about things we should do! Don’t tell us the truth! Say nice things to us and make us feel good! See only good things for us!


So those poor people begin thinking,\par “God has forgotten us!\par He has turned away from us forever!\par God doesn’t see what is happening to us!”\par


But Job, you might say,\par ‘What does God know?\par Can God see through the dark clouds\par and judge us?\par


All these kings came together. They made plans to fight against Joshua and the people of Israel.


All the prophets said the same thing. They said, “Go to the town of Ramoth Gilead. You will have success and win. The Lord will let the king defeat the Aramean people.”


But Micaiah answered, “As sure as the Lord lives, I can only say what my God says.”
