People said they were wise, and they became fools.


But these false teachers speak evil against things they don’t understand. These false teachers are like animals that do things without really thinking—like wild animals that are born to be caught and killed. And, like wild animals, these false teachers will be destroyed.


Those people are proud of what they know, but they understand nothing. Those people are sick with a love for arguing and fighting about words. And that brings jealousy, quarrels, insults, and evil mistrust.


Does God give you the Spirit because you follow the law? No! Does God work miracles {\cf2\super [22]} among you because you follow the law? No! God gives you his Spirit and works miracles among you because you heard \{the Good News\} and believed it.


Those women always try to learn \{new teachings\}, but they are never able to fully understand the truth.


Tell me this one thing: How did you receive the Spirit {\cf2\super [19]} ? Did you receive the Spirit by following the law {\cf2\super [20]} ? No! You received the Spirit because you heard \{the Good News {\cf2\super [21]} \} and believed it.


Some of you people still want to be under the law \{of Moses\}. Tell me, do you know what the law says?


Stay away from the Pharisees. {\cf2\super [208]} They lead the people, but they are like blind men leading other blind men. And if a blind man leads another blind man, then both men will fall into a hole.”


Then some men came \{to Antioch\} from Judea. They began teaching the non-Jewish brothers: “You cannot be saved if you are not circumcised. {\cf2\super [296]} Moses taught us to do this.”


So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know \{where John’s authority came from\}.”


After three days they found him. Jesus was sitting in the temple {\cf2\super [42]} area with the religious teachers, listening and asking them questions.


My brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers. Why? Because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly than other people.
