Then King Solomon said to Abiathar the priest, “I should kill you, but I will let you go back to your home in Anathoth. I will not kill you now because you helped to carry the Holy Box [8] of the Lord while marching with my father David. And I know that you shared in the hard times, just like my father.”


It was during the time of Abiathar the high priest. {\cf2\super [36]} David went into God’s house and ate the bread that was offered to God. And the law \{of Moses\} says that only priests can eat that bread. David also gave some of the bread to those people with him.”


Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring God’s Holy Box! [130] ” (At that time God’s Holy Box was there with the Israelites.)


“Use gold threads, fine linen, [241] and blue, purple, and red yarn to make the Ephod. [242] This must be the work of a very skilled person.


Then they asked the Lord, “Has Saul come here yet?”


Saul was talking to Ahijah the priest. {Saul was waiting for advice from God.} But the noise and confusion in the Philistine camp was growing and growing. {Saul was becoming impatient.} Finally, Saul said to Ahijah the priest, “That’s enough! Put your hand down {and stop praying}!”
