Samuel died. All the Israelites met together and showed their sadness about Samuel’s death. They buried Samuel at his home in Ramah. Then David moved to the Desert of Paran.


“A man or a woman who is a medium [368] or a wizard, [369] must be put to death. The people must kill them with stones. They must be killed. [370] ”


“Don’t go to mediums [343] or wizards [344] for advice. Don’t go to them; they will only make you unclean. [345] I am the Lord your God!


“You must not allow any woman to do evil magic. If she does magic, then you must not let her live.


But the woman said to Saul, “You know what Saul did! He has forced all of the mediums [211] and fortune tellers to leave the land of Israel. You are trying to trap me and kill me.”


Refusing to obey is as bad as the sin of sorcery. [139] Being stubborn and doing what you want is like the sin of worshiping idols. You refused to obey the Lord’s command. For this reason, the Lord now refuses to accept you as king.”


But Samuel’s home was in Ramah. So Samuel always went back to Ramah. Samuel judged and ruled Israel from that town. And Samuel built an altar to the Lord in Ramah.


“I will be against any person who goes to mediums [348] and wizards [349] for advice. That person is being unfaithful to me. So I will separate that person from his people.


If the father refuses to allow his daughter to marry him, then the man must still pay the money. He must pay the full amount for her.
