Then Pharaoh gave his special ring to Joseph. The royal seal was on this ring. Pharaoh also gave Joseph a fine linen robe and put a gold chain around his neck.


But the father said to his servants, ‘Hurry! Bring the best clothes and dress him. Also, put a ring on his finger and good shoes on his feet.


“The Lord makes me very, very happy.\par My whole self is happy in my God.\par The Lord put the clothes of salvation on me.\par These clothes are like the nice clothes\par a man wears at his wedding.\par The Lord put the coat of goodness on me.\par This coat is like the beautiful clothes\par a woman wears at her wedding.\par


Saul put his own clothes on David. Saul put a bronze helmet on David’s head and armor [156] on David’s body.


Saul sent David to fight in many different battles. David was very successful. Then Saul put David in charge of the soldiers. This pleased everyone, even Saul’s officers!


Jonathan’s bow killed its share of enemies. And Saul’s sword killed its share! They have spilled the blood of men now dead. They cut into the fat of strong men.


They wore belts around their waists and long turbans on their heads. All of those men looked like chariot {\cf2\super [185]} officers. They all looked like native born Babylonian men.
