32 Elijah used these stones to fix the altar to honor the Lord. Elijah dug a small ditch around the altar. It was wide enough and deep enough to hold about 7 gallons [206] of water.

Everything you say and everything you do should all be done for Jesus your Lord (Master). And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus.


But Samuel’s home was in Ramah. So Samuel always went back to Ramah. Samuel judged and ruled Israel from that town. And Samuel built an altar to the Lord in Ramah.


Samuel took a baby lamb. He burned the lamb as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. Samuel prayed to the Lord for Israel. The Lord answered Samuel’s prayer.


Early the next day, the people of Israel built an altar. [173] They put burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to God on that altar.


Then build the right kind of altar for the Lord your God. Build that altar on this high ground. Then kill and burn the full-grown bull on this altar. Use the wood from the Asherah pole to burn your offering.”


Then Elijah put the wood on the altar. He cut the bull into pieces. He laid the pieces on the wood.


The Lord appeared [72] to Abram. The Lord said, “I will give this land to your descendants.”


So Gideon built an altar [57] in that place to worship the Lord. Gideon named that altar, “The Lord is Peace.” That altar still stands in the city of Ophrah. Ophrah is where the Abiezer family lives.


The water flowed off of the altar and filled the ditch.
