If we say that we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us.


When I come, I will talk about what Diotrephes is doing. He lies and says evil things about us. But that is not all he does! He refuses to help those brothers \{who are working to serve Christ\}. Diotrephes also stops those people who want to help the brothers. He makes those people leave the church (group of believers).


A person says, “I know God!” But if that person does not obey God’s commands, then that person is a liar. The truth is not in him.


Lord, if you really punished people\par for all of their sins,\par no person would be left alive.\par


I write to you, children,\par because you know the Father.\par I write to you, fathers,\par because you know the One who existed (lived) from the beginning.\par I write to you, young people,\par because you are strong;\par the word of God lives in you,\par and you have defeated the Evil One.\par


“I swear (promise) these things are true!\par Who can prove that I lied?\par Who can show that I am wrong?”\par


Let the teaching of Christ live inside you richly. Use all wisdom to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.


My dear children, you belong to God. So you have defeated them (the false teachers). Why? Because the One (God) who is in you is greater than the one (the devil) who is in \{the people of\} the world.


“A man can’t really be pure.\par A person {\cf2\super [25]} can’t be more right than God!\par


But still, you say,\par ‘I am innocent.\par God is not angry with me.’\par So I will also judge you guilty \{of lying\}.\par Why? Because you say,\par ‘I have done nothing wrong.’\par


The person that accepts what he (Jesus) says has given proof that God speaks the truth.
