1 For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps.


4 Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.


For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and unlawful worshipping of idols.


2 Fight the good fight of faith: lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art called, and hast confessed a good confession before many witnesses.


Now the end of the commandment is charity, from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and an unfeigned faith.


4 And from the day, in which the king commanded me to be governor in the land of Juda, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, for twelve years, I and my brethren did not eat the yearly allowance that was due to the governors.


3 As one whom the mother caresseth, so will I comfort you, and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.


3 Do not still drink water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake, and thy frequent infirmities.


5 But when the master of the house shall be gone in, and shall shut the door, you shall begin to stand without, and knock at the door, saying: Lord, open to us. And he answering, shall say to you: I know you not, whence you are.


2 And there came a certain poor widow, and she cast in two mites, which make a farthing.


0 Who devour the houses of widows under the pretence of long prayer: these shall receive greater judgment.


6 For David himself saith by the Holy Ghost: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool.


5 For when they shall rise again from the dead, they shall neither marry, nor be married, but are as the angels in heaven.


Wherefore though I have much confidence in Christ Jesus, to command thee that which is to the purpose:
