2 Understand these things, you that forget God; lest he snatch you away, and there be none to deliver you.


2 He made darkness a covering round about him: dropping waters out of the clouds of the heavens.


2 The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall offend.


I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains, from whence help shall come to me.


3 And when he knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, whose name was Rhode.


Which when it was noised abroad in the ears of the people, the children of Israel offered in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey: and brought the tithe of all things which the ground bringeth forth.


5 And the Lord looked upon the children of Israel, and he knew them.


Wast thou angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or was thy wrath upon the rivers? or thy indignation in the sea? Who will ride upon thy horses: and thy chariots are salvation.


Who have said: We will magnify our tongue; our lips are our own; who is Lord over us?


Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak: heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled.


And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduceth the whole world; and he was cast unto the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.


4 And he that betrayed him, had given them a sign, saying: Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; lay hold on him, and lead him away carefully.


2 For if my enemy had reviled me, I would verily have borne with it. And if he that hated me had spoken great things against me, I would perhaps have hidden myself from him.
