Ointment and perfumes rejoice the heart: and the good counsels of a friend are sweet to the soul.


He that sendeth words by a foolish messenger, is lame of feet and drinketh iniquity.


6 The soul of him that laboureth, laboureth for himself, because his mouth hath obliged him to it.


3 Moses said to God: Lo, I shall go to the children of Israel, and say to them: The God of your fathers hath sent me to you. If they should say to me: What is his name? what shall I say to them?


Or rest to my temples: until I find out a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.


2 And Samuel said: Doth the Lord desire holocausts and victims, and not rather that the voice of the Lord should be obeyed? For obedience is better than sacrifices: and to hearken rather than to offer the fat of rams.


6 But he said to him: A certain man made a great supper, and invited many.


8 And they began all at once to make excuse. The first said to him: I have bought a farm, and I must needs go out and see it: I pray thee, hold me excused.


2 As an earring of gold and a bright pearl, so is he that reproveth the wise, and the obedient ear.


4 As clouds, and wind, when no rain followeth, so is the man that boasteth, and doth not fulfil his promises.
