A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.


8 You yourselves do bear me witness, that I said, I am not Christ, but that I am sent before him.


The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but he that is poor beareth not reprehension.


4 That which the wicked feareth, shall come upon him: to the just their desire shall be given.


5 And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?


9 Let her be thy dearest hind, and most agreeable fawn: let her breasts inebriate thee at all times; he thou delighted continually with her love.


If thou shalt seek her as money, and shalt dig for her as for a treasure:


3 And the messenger, that went to call Micheas, spoke to him, saying: Behold the words of the prophets with one month declare good things to the king: let thy word therefore be like to theirs, and speak that which is good.


5 Now there was not such another as Achab, who was sold to do evil in the sight of the Lord: for his wife Jezabel set him on,


2 And Elias said again to the people: I only remain a prophet of the Lord: but the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty men.


Wisdom is too high for a fool, in the gate he shall not open his mouth.


2 The turning away of little ones shall kill them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.


6 Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasures without content,


8 A passionate man stirreth up strifes: he that is patient appeaseth those that are stirred up.


3 Doth God require it of thee, because it hath displeased thee? for thou begannest to speak, and not I. : but if thou know any thing better, speak.


Unto the end, a psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him after he had sinned with Bethsabee. Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity.


5 Keep thy foot from being bare, and thy throat from thirst. But thou saidst: I have lost all hope, I will not do it: for I have loved strangers, and I will walk after them.


7 And the children of thy people have said: The way of the Lord is not equitable: whereas their own way is unjust.
