Every proud man is an abomination to the Lord: though hand should be joined to hand, he is not innocent. The beginning of a good way is to do justice; and this is more acceptable with God, than to offer sacrifices.


3 A foolish woman and clamorous, and full of allurements, and knowing nothing at all,


3 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.


0 Their heart is curdled like milk: but I have meditated on thy law.


3 And on the one hand indeed, by reproaches and tribulations, were made a gazingstock; and on the other, became companions of them that were used in such sort.


And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers: lest I come, and strike the earth with anathema.


He, when he had seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms.


3 And the king answered the people roughly, leaving the counsel of the old men, which they had given him,


My mouth shall meditate truth, and my lips shall hate wickedness.


5 And the king condescended not to the people: for the Lord was turned away from him, to make good his word, which he had spoken in the hand of Ahias the Silonite, to Jeroboam the son of Nabat.


Let the fear of the Lord be with you, and do all things with diligence: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, a nor respect of persons, nor desire of gifts.


2 And Lot also, the son of Abram's brother, who dwelt in Sodom, and his substance.


Then the king of Israel called an eunuch, and said to him: Make haste, and bring hither Micheas the son of Jemla.


7 And the king died, b and was carried into Samaria: and they buried the king in Samaria.


3 And the king answered roughly, leaving the counsel of the ancients.


And he sought for Ochozias himself, and took him lying hid in Samaria: and when he was brought to him, he killed him, and they buried him: because he was the son of Josaphat, who had sought the Lord with all his heart. And there was no more hope that any one should reign of the race of Ochozias.


A wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish will pull down with her hands that also which is built.


4 A fool shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man shall be above him.


And put a knife to thy throat, if it be so that thou have thy soul in thy own power.


Be not desirous of his meats, in which is the bread of deceit.
