So the children of Ruben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses returned, and parted from the children of Israel in Silo, which is in Chanaan, to go into Galaad the land of their possession, which they had obtained according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.


5 I will pass over therefore, and will see this excellent land beyond the Jordan, and this goodly mountain, and Libanus.


3 And the children of Israel would not destroy Gessuri and Machati: and they have dwelt in the midst of Israel, until this present day.


And it was told the king of Jericho, and was said : Behold there are men come in hither, by night, of the children of Israel, to spy the land.


2 And he shut up his people under the sword: and he despised his inheritance.


3 And the king mourning and lamenting over Abner, said: Not as cowards are wont to die, hath Abner died.


The land in the midst between these mark ye out into seven parts; and you shall come hither to me, that I may cast lots for you before the Lord your God.


Of Gessuri and Machati, and of half Galaad: the borders of Sehon the king of Hesebon.


And they all came out with their troops, a people exceeding numerous as the sand that is on the sea shore, their horses also and chariots a very great multitude,


5 And took it the same day: and put to the sword all the souls that were in it, according to all that he had done to Lachis.


4 And said: The Lord hath delivered all this land into our hands, and all the inhabitants thereof are overthrown with fear.


9 And returning on the seventh day, he shall look upon it. If he find that the leprosy is spread,


6 We will leave our children, and our wives and sheep and cattle, in the cities of Galaad:
